Frequently asked questions
Why are tyres at moto-tyres.co.uk so much cheaper?

The following quote sums up the reason from ADAC 3/2000 (German equivalent of the AA)

"The price spans listed in the table (without balancing and fitting costs) are based on a nation-wide dealer survey carried out in December 1999. Prices listed serve only as an approximate benchmark and may vary strongly from dealer to dealer. The reason: tyre manufacturers sell their products at very different prices - Criteria such as quantity or time of order have a direct influence on the dealer's purchase price. The dealer is forced to recalculate prices to adapt to market values. Price-conscious customers should take their time to compare prices."

Are VAT and transport costs included in the listed prices?

The prices include VAT and transport costs within mainland Britain.

  • For the Scottish islands please add £9.50 per tyre
  • For Northern Ireland please add £9.75 per tyre
  • For the Isle of Man and Isle of Wight please add  £14.75 per tyre
  • Unfortunately, we cannot deliver to the Channel Islands
Are the tyres new?

We only sell new tyres. We do not sell old stock. Our tyres are all brand new products. Check the DOT number to find out how old a tyre is. The tyre industry sells tyres up to 2 years old as new.
We also sell remoulds. However these are specially marked as being remoulded. Our remoulds are made in the UK.

Paying via Internet

What payment methods are available via Internet?

At mytyres.co.uk:
You can pay by cheque, credit card or cash.

In general
Due to media reports, many potential online buyers are under the impression that secure and safe payment using the Internet is nearly impossible. In actual fact, online customers can choose between several different types of payment.

You send your order via the Internet, but this does not mean that the payment flows back the same way. Misuse of credit cards cannot take place. "Paying with credit card" lists some small precautionary steps to ensure the safety of your data. Listed below is some preliminary information about payment in general, not just within the Internet.

Advance payment by cheque or credit card
With this method of payment, you pay before the goods are sent out. The disadvantage here is that you cannot inspect the product for damage or defects before paying. If you have a defective product, it might be more difficult to get your money back. Refunding can sometimes be a problem.

If you are thinking about returning goods, e.g. because the size is not right, you should choose a different payment method. Check if the seller will exchange the product or refund the money if you decide to return the product. Make a note if packaging and shipping costs are covered by the seller or if you have to pay the return shipment costs.
Important - check the Terms and Conditions. If the seller does not explicitly state that they will pay for return packaging and shipping costs will not be carried, you can refuse to pay any additional charges for delivery and return the goods free of charge.

About mytyres.co.uk:

Our competitively low prices means that we cannot accept payment against invoice. If you are not satisfied with our service, send the tyres back to us as stated in our Return Policy (please contact us for the returning address). We will then credit the purchase price to your account.

Payment using credit card

Online shopping using your credit card is safe and easy. When paying online, the credit card holder is asked to enter the credit card number and expiry date. The data is sent to the tyre dealer. The dealer then checks with the respective credit card company that the data is correct and that sufficient funds are available. If the inquiry proves positive, the dealer can then send out the goods.

If you want to be on the safe side, you should only buy in SSL online shops. These shops are marked by a yellow-coloured lock in the bottom left-hand corner of the browser window. This lock indicates that your connection to the tyre dealer is secure. The data verification takes place automatically. Your browser detects if it is connecting to a secure site.
